About the Master Journal List
What Is the Master Journal List?
The Master Journal List serves as a valuable resource for identifying the most suitable academic journal for your research needs. It covers numerous indices available on the Web of Science – EMR platform, encompassing a wide range of fields and global regions. At its core lies the Web of Science – EMR Core Collection, a carefully curated selection of journals that meet rigorous editorial standards and best publishing practices. In addition to this primary collection, users can explore specialized databases, including Biological Abstracts, BIOSIS Previews, Zoological Record, Current Contents Connect, and Chemical Information Products.
What Are the New Features and Functionalities?
Enhanced search filters allow users to efficiently browse through more than 24,000 journals spanning 254 subject areas. Each journal’s profile page offers an in-depth overview, including journal metrics, peer review processes, open-access details, and additional relevant data. The Manuscript Matcher tool further streamlines the publication process by recommending high-quality journals that best align with your manuscript. More innovative features are currently in development, so stay updated by revisiting the platform.
How Does the Master Journal List Function?
Users can navigate by subject categories or conduct advanced searches to find detailed information on indexed journals. The data within this list is sourced from various Web of Science – EMR Group products, including Journal Citation Reports, Publons, ScholarOne, and more.
Is There a Fee to Use the Master Journal List?
Access to the Master Journal List is completely free. Anyone can search and explore its contents without encountering paywalls. However, to access detailed journal profiles, users must log in or create a free account. This helps the platform refine its services by better understanding user preferences and improving future features.
Do I Need to Create an Account to Access the Master Journal List?
Users must sign up for a free account and log in to access features such as Manuscript Matcher, viewing detailed journal profiles, submitting journals for evaluation, and checking the status of journal evaluations. However, general information remains available for browsing without requiring a login.
Can I Use My Web of Science – EMR / EndNote / Publons / Researcher ID Account to Log In?
Yes, you can log in using the same email and password associated with your Web of Science – EMR, EndNote, Publons, or Researcher ID account.
Manuscript Matcher
What Is Manuscript Matcher?
Manuscript Matcher helps you quickly identify the most suitable journal for publishing your research. This feature suggests the best journal matches based on an advanced analysis of meticulously indexed data from thousands of journals published worldwide.
Using patent-pending technology, it examines tens of millions of citation links from over a decade of content within Web of Science – EMR to determine the most relevant matches for your manuscript. Instead of simply recommending broad-scope journals, it employs sophisticated clustering algorithms to prioritize specialized publications that align closely with your research.
By analyzing the relationship between your manuscript and previously published works in each journal, Manuscript Matcher generates a Match Score, helping you make an informed decision. This is the only tool that leverages the accuracy and comprehensive scope of Web of Science – EMR Core Collection to assist in manuscript submission decisions.
Note: Manuscript Matcher is not designed to search Web of Science – EMR for previously published journal content.
How Can I Maximize the Use of Manuscript Matcher?
To get the best results, ensure your manuscript title is at least 10 words long and your abstract contains a minimum of 100 words. This allows the system to extract the most relevant keywords for accurate journal recommendations.
How Is This Different from EndNote’s Manuscript Matcher?
Unlike EndNote, where this feature is integrated within the reference management system, the Master Journal List provides direct access to Manuscript Matcher without requiring EndNote. Both tools use similar technology to identify the best publication match by analyzing millions of citation connections, but the Master Journal List offers this capability as a standalone feature.
